Gene's Note: Seeing Opportunity Over Fear

As human beings, it can be easy to let fear overtake us during times of uncertainty. However uncertainty and disruption always bring new opportunities, providing the possibility for better outcomes. In the face of fear, we win by seeing the opportunity to learn, to adapt and to grow. This is when we need to focus on what we control, and move beyond what we can’t. 

We can all agree that 2020 has brought a lot of unanticipated opportunities. We’ve had to change and adapt in ways we had not imagined. At Rogue, we had to quickly change from primarily serving our members in our branches, to solely being able to serve you through our remote channels. We have seen exponential growth in the use of our Mobile App, Remote Deposit Capture, Online Banking and Express Teller Machines. Members have embraced alternative solutions to receive goods and services, especially through technology! We have communicated closely with each and every one of you as we have had to rapidly evolve our service delivery options based upon government directives, and your needs. With branch services looking different, we know that it is imperative to continuously learn and grow in member focused solutions.

Change comes with many aspects of opportunity, not just related to growth, but also through financial education. We encourage our team members and member-owners to be ahead of the curve by having the mindset of “never stop learning.”

The nation has seen an influx of unemployment fraud, and if you have been impacted by this we offer free online financial education to our members specifically for protecting your identity and security awareness, as well as protecting yourself against cybersecurity trends. These challenges have given us the opportunity to work closer with you in addressing the need for financial education and sharing ways to protect yourselves. 

During these unprecedented times, we are here for you. People continue to trust us with their deposits, and we continue to be a safe harbor as our members seek protection from the economic uncertainty that we face today. Your credit union continues to be financially strong and ready to stand with you as we walk through this storm and learn to dance in the rain. I am proud of how our members and team members join together in times of uncertainty. Caring, concern and appreciation for others is the hallmark of a strong community.
