7 Cooperative Principles
Rogue Credit Union is a Co-op!
Rogue CU is a financial cooperative that follows the Seven Cooperative Principals:
- Voluntary Membership
Rogue opens its doors to all of our community and offers financial services to its members. We operate as a not-for-profit organization, which means our top priority is serving our members, not maximizing profits for shareholders.
- Democratic Member Control
At Rogue, you have a say in what is going on! Each member gets one vote, regardless of their financial status.
- Members’ Economic Participation
Every member of the credit union both uses the services, and is an owner. This means the more that each member participates, the more that can be given back in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings rates, and more member benefits.
- Autonomy and Independence
Cooperatives are owned by the members, not shareholders. Business decisions are made with a focus on what’s best for our member-owners.
- Education, Training and Information
We strive to provide the financial education you need on our website at roguecu.org/learn. We provide classes, seminars, and online resources. We also work with local schools and community groups to provide comprehensive financial education to those that need it most.
- Cooperation Among Cooperatives
Rogue Credit Union works with other financial cooperatives to provide surcharge-free ATMs all over the country. We also collaborate with other co-ops in the Rogue valley to better serve our community.
- Concern for Community
Our roots run deep in Southern Oregon and we are proud to support our local communities. We partner with other local organizations to sponsor and support many local community events where we give back over $225,000 each year and our staff volunteer over 10,000 hours annually.
