Gene's Note: Democratic Ownership & the Annual Meeting

As we move into early spring, it is time once again for Rogue Credit Union’s Annual Meeting! This 62-year tradition is a great opportunity for our members to learn about the state of the credit union and share in the power of ownership. YOU, our loyal member-owners, are the foundation of our credit union: you own it, you control it, and you have a voice. Reflecting back, it is truly amazing what you have helped us accomplish since the first annual meeting, when a small group of educators met in Classroom #216 at Medford Senior High School.

An essential aspect of maintaining a healthy, member-owned cooperative is an informed and educated membership. This is why each year, we take the time to put on our Annual Meeting to let you know what is going on at YOUR credit union. From last year’s accomplishments to where we are headed next year, we will cover it all. The power of the cooperative model is realized when our members come together as borrowers and savers to help each other. Your ownership in Rogue Credit Union provides easily accessible financial services for our community that are directed by your friends and neighbors.

The Annual Meeting also gives us an opportunity to focus on how our cooperative model strengthens the community. Our profits do not go to distant investors, they go right back to YOU. The latest example of that is the $4 million Loyalty Dividend that our members received this past December. In addition, the credit union shared rewards of nearly $2 million with our members in 2018 through Rogue Rewards Loyalty Programs. As a result, the money stays grounded in our local economy, building community health. Our member-owners that live and spend locally help us stay connected and accountable to our communities.

I’d personally like to invite you to join us for the Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 19th at 5:30pm in the South Medford Administration Building to celebrate the credit union difference! The doors will open at 5:00 for a reception with light Hors d'Oeuvres and an opportunity to meet your Board of Directors and senior staff.
